About Me

Vimbai is a writer-performer with classical and contemporary theatre training. Most recently, she starred as Desireé Brown in the television show Murdered by Morning on the Oxygen Network, as well as Veronica in the Hollywood Fringe Festival’s world premiere of The Big Crash by Timothy McCook. She has also performed in leading roles in regional theaters like the Yale Repertory Theatre and Yale University Theatre. A few of her theatrical credits include Canary Mary in Fucking A by Suzan-Lori Parks, Nina in Vanya Sonia Masha and Spike by Christopher Durang, and Mary in Filling Basins by AK Payne.

As the daughter of a proud Zimbabwean immigrant, Vimbai had a love for historical dramas instilled within her from an early age. Therefore, Vimbai graduated from Yale University with degrees in History and Film & Media Studies. Her senior thesis script, The Forgotten Ones, scored in the top 15% of the Academy Nicholl Fellowship in 2019. Vimbai was part of the INC program in 2021, an incubator for upcoming female TV writers. In 2022, her feature, Lagos, was a quarter finalist in the Academy Nicholl Fellowship.
